Iguazu Falls lies on the Río Iguazú (Rio Iguaçu in Portuguese) very near the tripartite border between Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay.  It is one of the world's great natural attractions, with 275 separate falls cascading over a precipice 3km wide.  The sound of the falls can be heard from a distance of several kilometers.  All of the photos below were taken from the Brazilian side unless noted otherwise.

Just before the plunge over the Garganta del Diablo.  The water runs brown from the color of roots and plant matter rather than pollution.

Cotamundis are a sort of South American cousin of the North American raccoon, and are in abundance in the park.

Like raccoons, cotamundis can appear quite tame when seeking a handout!

The Tropical Hotel das Cataratas is a luxury hotel very near the most spectacular part of the national park, with prices to match.

Downstream from the falls, the Rio Iguazú is much more sluggish.  This view is from the Argentine side near Puerto Iguazú.

The Itaipu hydroelectric dam near Foz do Iguaçu is an engineering marvel.  It is the largest such project in the world - built at a cost of US$25 billion - and produces 25% of Brazil's electricity..
